While hard water isn’t dangerous for
your health it can wreak havoc on your clothes, dishes and cloth
diapers. I use Eco Sprout on my cloth diapers regularly and I’ve
used it on my clothes as well. After a few loads of laundry in our
new hard water, I was fed up. The clothes didn’t look clean at all.
Ugh.
I decided to conduct my own little EcoSprout Soap experiment. You see I know that it works on my regular laundry
with soft water but does it really work with hard water like
they claim? The short answer? Yes! Now I’m not a scientist and I
don’t know the make up of Eco Sprout or how it works but I do know
clean clothes. I also know that despite a few weeks’ worth of
washes in my hard water my cloth diapers smelled great. No ammonia
issues like I was anticipating. I am really surprised. It really does
work!
For a full list of ingredients check
out Eco Sprout’s website.

Will you please share your wash routine? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMaria - Certainly! For diapers I did a cold pre-wash/soak, hot wash with cold rinse using 3 Tbs. of ES and then a cold rinse. For the regular clothes I washed them with 4 Tbs. of ES using cold cycles for colors and warm for whites. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of confused :) You mention first that your clothes weren't getting clean, so did you change your wash routine or something in order to get it to work with the hard water?
ReplyDeleteDid you just add more detergent for your washes to fix the hard water problems?
ReplyDeleteKenner - I started using ES detergent rather than the liquid detergent that I normally use.
ReplyDeleteAnne - I added 4 Tbs of ES to my wash. With soft water I only have to do 1 to 2.
